FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About the Product

What exactly is a Knittworks frame system? The Knittworks system has two parts: an aluminium silicone-edge frame that mounts on your wall, and a fabric print with a silicone bead sewn into its edge. The frame installs once. The fabric print snaps into the groove around the frame's inner edge and sits taut and flat. To change the art, you pull the fabric out and press a new one in. The wall is never touched again after the initial installation.

How long does it take to install the frame? About 10–15 minutes for a single frame. You need a drill, a spirit level, and the hardware that comes with the frame. Once the frame is up, every subsequent print change takes 30 seconds.

How long does it take to swap a print? 30 seconds. Pull the fabric out from one corner, peel it back, and the print comes away. Press the new fabric into the groove starting from one corner and work around. That is the entire process.

Can I hang the frame on any type of wall? The frame works on concrete, brick, drywall, and plaster walls — which covers almost every Indian apartment and home. If you are unsure about your wall type, contact us before ordering and we will advise on the right hardware.

What sizes are available? Frames and prints are available in four sizes: 12x18 inches, 18x24 inches, 24x36 inches, and 36x60 inches. All measurements are width x height in inches.

What is the difference between "Fabric only" and "Frame and Fabric"? Frame and Fabric includes both the aluminium silicone-edge frame and the fabric print — everything you need for a complete installation. Fabric only is the print alone, for customers who already own a Knittworks frame and want additional prints to swap between.

Care and Maintenance

Can I wash the fabric prints? Yes. Remove the print from the frame, place it in a mesh laundry bag, and machine wash on a gentle cold cycle. Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry. The colours are printed with waterproof inks and hold their vibrancy across multiple wash cycles.

How do I clean the frame? Wipe with a damp cloth. The aluminium frame does not require any special maintenance.

Will the colours fade over time? The prints use UV-resistant waterproof inks. Under normal indoor light conditions, the colours maintain their vibrancy for several years. Avoid placing prints in direct sunlight for extended periods.

Can I iron the fabric print? Do not iron directly on the printed surface. If the fabric has creases after washing, it will flatten naturally once pressed back into the frame. If needed, iron on the reverse side using a low heat setting with a cloth between the iron and the fabric.

For Renters

Will the frame installation damage my walls? The frame requires standard wall mounting — the same as hanging any framed picture. This means a small number of screws or anchors at the frame's mounting points. When you move out, fill the holes with white wall putty, which is available at any hardware store for Rs.50–100. This is the only wall interaction required for the entire time you own the frame.

My landlord doesn't allow nails. What should I do? Most landlords who say "no nails" are concerned about large patches of damage, not small mounting holes for a picture frame. We recommend having an honest conversation with your landlord — one framed picture's worth of holes that you will fill when you leave is very different from a wall full of haphazard damage. If your tenancy agreement specifically prohibits any wall fixing, contact us and we can discuss adhesive mounting options for lighter frame sizes.

Can I take the frame with me when I move? Yes. Unscrew the frame from the wall, fill the holes, and remount in your new home. The frame is designed to be a long-term investment that moves with you. Your prints come too.
